Viscous fluid

Search site :

All fluids are viscous. The viscosity is however not essential to all kinds of flows. In the following pages, we will study viscous flows. Close to a solid wall a boundary layer will form. This is due to the no slip boundary condition. The thickness of the boundary layer will be dependent on the Reynolds number and of local flow properties.
Learn more about boundary layers.

The boundary layer will cause the flow across an obstacle to be unstable, and the flow will be unsymmetrical. Vortexes will be created and we have vortex shedding.
