Overview of themes
The prime objects we will study here are the effects of sea-loads on marine structures. This page is
divided into three main topics:
Structural components
In order to design marine stuctures to withstand these loads, it is necessary to have a good
knowledge of the different structural components and how they can take up loads.

Structural Analysis
There are several methods for marine stuctural analysis, both analytical and numerical. The most important of them
are presented here.

Structural design criterias
From the analysis we can then control if the designed structure will have sufficient capacity by
evaluating the different design criterias.

A good designer must hence be familiar with all these topics.
Java applets
These pages contains some exciting and interesting java-applets written for the purpose
of learning the subjects in these pages. A java applet is a small
program that runs inside the web-browser, allowing the user to do a lot of different
experimenting.
